What I'll come out for after hours
Power loss
Total blackout or partial power loss. I'll find the fault and get you back on.
Sparking outlet
If something's sparking, don't touch it. Call me and I'll come straight out.
Water in a fitting
Leak got into a light or powerpoint? Turn off the power at the board and call me.
Safety switch won't reset
If your RCD keeps tripping and won't stay on, there's a fault that needs finding.

After-hours work costs more than daytime work. That's just how it is — I'm leaving my family, driving out at night, working in conditions that take longer because I can't see as well.
I'll tell you upfront what it's going to cost before I start any work. If it's something that can safely wait until morning, I'll tell you that too and we can book it in for first thing.
A lot of the emergency calls I get are safety switches that won't reset. Sometimes it's a faulty appliance (easy fix — unplug everything and reset), sometimes it's a wiring fault that needs proper investigation. I'll work through it methodically and find the problem.
