Appliance Installation — Electrical Side, Joondalup
When you swap an old cooktop for a new induction unit, or your oven dies and you've bought a new one, or your dishwasher needs a fresh dedicated circuit — that's the electrical side of appliance install. Modern appliances pull more power than the kitchen circuits in a 90s home were spec'd for, so half the job is checking the wiring before the new unit goes in.
What I do
- Induction and electric cooktop install — dedicated circuit, hardwired connection, isolation switch
- Wall oven replacement — circuit check, isolator, hardwired connection
- Rangehood electrical (existing or new circuit)
- Dishwasher dedicated GPO install
- Electric hot water system electrical-side (circuit, isolator, board capacity check)
- Heat-pump hot water electrical-side (separate page below for full coordination)
- Old appliance disconnection and isolation when units are removed
Common jobs in Joondalup
Induction cooktop install in a 90s Kingsley kitchen renovation — old circuit not rated for the load, dedicated circuit added from the board. Oven replacement in an Edgewater or Greenwood family home — quick swap if the existing circuit's sized right. New dishwasher dedicated GPO in a Burns Beach or Iluka renovation. Hot water system electrical disconnect when an old electric storage unit gets swapped for gas (gas side handled by partner — see the hot water page).
What to SMS or photograph
- Photo of the existing appliance label (the spec plate showing the kW rating)
- Photo of the new appliance spec sheet if you've got it
- Photo of the kitchen / laundry area showing where the appliance sits
SMS Tony 0415 966 469 with the appliance details and address. Most jobs I can quote off the photos.
FAQs
Why do new induction cooktops sometimes need a board upgrade?
A modern induction cooktop can pull 32-37 amps on its own. Older Kingsley/Greenwood boards were sized for the whole kitchen at less than that.
Can you do the install if I haven't bought the appliance yet?
Yes — I can quote off the spec sheet and time the install for when the unit's delivered.
Do you remove the old appliance?
I disconnect and isolate the old electrical side. Physical removal and disposal is usually the appliance retailer's responsibility, but I can take it for you if you want.
